YU WANG

Building Consultant

Yu joined August Millard in June 2021 with a goal of putting her academic knowledge to practical use in the built environment.  With a PhD in Building Technology a Master of Engineering in Wood Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering in Wood Science and Engineering from the Northeast Forestry University, Harbin, China, her academic credentials speak for themselves.

 

Yu is currently a transitional member of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors and will soon commence studying to gain a Diploma in Building Surveying and become a Registered Building Surveyor.  She has also recently become a Certified Passive House Consultant.  She is passionate about researching the areas of housing, sustainability, health and the environment with 5+ years experience.

EXPERIENCE

Yu was previously a lecturer at Massey University teaching construction and building technology courses and supervising both undergraduate and post graduate research projects.  She has an in-depth knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and has experience in developing and executing environment monitoring studies, particularly air quality and ventilation in homes and schools.

Yu is self-motivated and a faster learner.  She is bilingual in English and Mandarin.

Outside of work Yu is a keen surfer and snowboarder.
